Pepe Belmonte is a roots-blues guitar player and singer song-writer. He grew up in Co. Cork on the West coast of Ireland. His musical influence meanders through Irish, American and Hawaiian folk to the pre-war blues of Chicago along The Delta and down through the lyrical landscape of Dylan, Mitchell and Young. Mississippi John Hurt meets JJ Cale meets Nick Drake. Music from his as un-officially released album 'THE HERMIT'S WALTZ' make up the soundtrack to the independent feature film, ' The Hour of Living' in which Pepe also appears as 'The Singer'.
The album was set for release in the Summer of 2011 alongside a solo UK tour of Independent Record Stores. However a serious bicycle crash in March 2011 resulted in an extensive period of rehabilitation and dark recovery from which Pepe is now returning from with new songs a new band and a new album in the making. Shows have included the Somersault and Wilderness Festivals and support spots at Portsmouth's Guildhall and the main arena at The Royal Albert Hall from which an EP will soon be available.
A book of poems and pictures is available at gigs and his debut album 'The Hermit's Waltz' is available through his website and iTunes.
With their contemporary Americana tones and classic melody Pepe Belmonte & His Band will transport you along on a wave of rock, roots and blues and have you tapping your toes to songs you'll be sure you've heard somewhere before.
